2010 in review
2010 proved to be a productive year for Bima Wear. Bima Wear turned 41. We attended Womadelaide for the third consecutive year. Noella designed the best International Women's Day project t-shirt, a joint project with Ruby Gaea, Darwin. We had a major trip to Sydney. Everyone except Marita Kantilla came, Marita stayed home to hold the fort and help Crystal prepare outfits for Barcelona. In Sydney we spent a week with the Australian Museum planning and installing a six month exhibition alongside Monica Napper's Tiwi Footy exhibition, a big thanks to all the staff we met and worked with. We stayed at Eora Campus, National Centre for Indigenous Excellence in Redfern which was a great experience for all, good food and great company. Redfern Community were fantastic hosts. We enjoyed our time spent with Eora College, Sydney. Staff and students generously showed us around their school and
artworks. Nguiu township changed its name to Wurrumiyanga. Lucia became a grandmother to Wayne Jr. Many many friends and family passed away. Sister Anne opened her coffee shop and op shop (NT's formerly best kept secret). Our shop refurbishment was completed as well as a new room to house our digital textile printer. Bima Wear completed business planning for the next few years, thanks to all involved. We hosted volunteers and guests. Maren scaled back her involvement to make room for Noella to move in to the Production Manager's position. We received huge amounts of support from friends and continue to grow our network of friends and supporters. Many thanks to all the people involved with Bima Wear in 2010.
